What is a Doula?
The word "doula" originated from the ancient Greek word, meaning "a woman who
serves." Today, this word refers to a trained and experienced professional
that provides continual physical, emotional and informational support to a
mother before, during and after birth; a professional who provides emotional and
practical support during the postpartum period.
Studies have established that when doulas attend childbirth, labors are shorter with
less complications, and babies are healthier and breastfeed more easily.
Role of a Doula
- Recognizes birth as a key experience the mother will remember all her life.
- Understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor.
- Assists the woman in preparing for and carrying out her plans for birth.
- Stays with the woman throughout the labor.
- Provides emotional support, physical comfort measures and an objective viewpoint, as well as helping the woman get the information she needs to make informed decision.
- Facilitates communication between the laboring woman, her partner and her clinical care providers.
- Perceives her role as nurturing and protecting the woman's memory of the birth experience.
- Allows the woman's partner to participate at his/her comfort level.
Why use a Doula?
All moms-to-be have a wide variety of specific needs during childbirth and the weeks
that follow. In
addition to medical care and the love and support provided by
partners, women need consistent, continuous reassurance, comfort,
encouragement and respect. In other words, they need individualized care based on their
specific situations and priorities.
Our doulas are educated, certified and experienced in labor,
birth and after care. We are here to give moms emotional, physical
(non-medical), and informational support to them and their companions
during labor, childbirth and after birth needs. With our doula service in
Hollywood, our doulas provide positioning and comfort measures to make childbearing women
and families feel nurtured and endeared.

Every Blissful Mommy receives the following:
•An initial free consultation to get to know each other.
•2 meetings with the Doula to discuss and create your birth plan and
practice techniques to be use.
•24-hour phone assistance around the estimate date of birth.
•Professional labor support at your chosen birthing site.
In our magical bag, we will bring for you to enjoy music ,massage tools ,
visualization and relaxation techniques, aromatherapy, body pampering, Bach
Flowers and continuous informational support, and much more.
Our Fees
•Doula Services - $ 800. There is a deposit of 50% due when you decide to
hire us, with the remaining balance due by your 36th week of pregnancy.
