What is a Birth Doula?
The word "doula" was originated from the ancient Greeks and is
a work that has a meaning of "a woman who
serves." Now, a Doula is referring to a trained, experienced and
certified professional, that provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to
moms-to-be before, during and after birth. A Doula is also defined as a person who bestows emotional and

Studies have proven that with doulas attending attend births, labor tends to
be shorter with
fewer complications, babies are healthier, and breastfeeding comes easier.
Role of a Birth Doula
- Recognizes birth as a key experience the mother will remember all her life.
- Understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor.
- Assists the woman in preparing for and carrying out her plans for birth.
- Stays with the woman throughout the labor.
- Provides emotional support, physical comfort measures and an objective viewpoint, as well as helping the woman get the information she needs to make informed decision.
- Facilitates communication between the laboring woman, her partner and her clinical care providers.
- Perceives her role as nurturing and protecting the woman's memory of the birth experience.
- Allows the woman's partner to participate at his/her comfort level.
Why use a Birth Doula?
Pregnant women need special attention during their pregnancy, during
childbirth and during the time that follows. Besides, medical care, a newly
delivered mom needs the love and companionship of her partner, as well as
continued reassurance, comfort and encouragement from an outside party.

A Blissful Mommy birth doula is educated and certified in childbirth, and
has extensive experience caring for new moms. We provide physical
(non-medical) and emotional support to women and their partners during labor
and childbirth. We provide a gentle touch, relaxed positioning and comfort
maneuvers that make childbearing women and families feel nurtured and cared
for.

Every Blissful Mommy receives the following:
•An initial free consultation to get to know each other.
•2 meetings with the Doula to discuss and create your birth plan and
practice techniques to be use.
•24-hour phone assistance around the estimate date of birth.
•Professional labor support at your chosen birthing site.

Our Fees
•Doula Services - $ 800. There is a deposit of 50% due when you decide to
hire us, with the remaining balance due by your 36th week of pregnancy.
